The Zeppelin Atlantic line is equipped with the brand new GMT automatic movement 9075 from Citizen/Miyota.
The movement has a freely adjustable hour hand and can therefore be used very conveniently to display two time zones. This is combined with the well-known and popular Atlantic design in ∅42mm, with a raised globe representation in the center of the dial.
Polished stainless steel case with 20mm bandwidth.
The premium Miyota 9075 movement has 28,800 vibrations per hour, 24 jewels, approx. 42 hours of power reserve, shock protection and a stop seconds when the crown is pulled out.
The “real” GMT function
The 9075 movement from the Citizen movement Miyota, which was newly released in 2022 and is used in this watch, is nothing less than a sensation. While the “real” GMT function was previously only reserved for expensive luxury watches, this new movement brings the function into previously unknown price ranges.
But what exactly is a “real” GMT function and why is it so sought after and valued? Let's first look at the GMT function as such: Here, a regular three-hand watch is supplemented by a fourth hand that runs along a 24-hour scale. In this way you can read two time zones on the watch, home time and local time.
The “real” GMT function is characterized by the fact that the main hour hand can be set to jump one hour at a time when the crown is pulled out to the first position. Imagine sitting on a plane for seven hours and getting off in a foreign time zone. Crown in position 1, main hour hand jumping to local time, done.
You now wear a timepiece on your wrist that shows local time, while the 24h GMT hand continues to show the time at your home location. The watch for real travelers!
Hence the name “real” GMT or “Flyer” GMT.
