This Seagull 1963 Chronograph has a polished stainless steel case with 42mm diameter (with crown 46mm), 13mm height, 22mm bandwidth and a screwed crystal back. The original Airforcewatch had a smaller diameter of 38mm ( see Nr. 7001 ) and this 42mm version is perfect for the enthousiasts of bigger watches. It is very comfortable to wear still - even with smaller wrists!
As the band connections are slightly curved, this watch is very smooth to wear - for example my wrist is 17,5cm and this watch fits perfectly!
This Chronograph has a mechanic manual winding column wheel chronograph calbier Seagull No. ST19 , with 45 hours power reserve, 21.600 halfrotations/hour, shock protection, and 21 jewels.
3ATM water resistant.
Seagull in Tianjin bought the production machines from Switzerland in the 60´ies - therefore this very nice caliber is the successor of the famous Venus 150 Column-wheel-caliber - similar to the famous Poljot 3017 caliber.
The dial has chinese characters, a silver metallic dial with golden arabic numbers and indexes and blue hands. The "Red Star" at position "12" fits perfect to the design.
With the upper pusher you can start & stop the 30 minute counter of the stop function and with the lower pusher you can reset the stopper to "0".
You can wind the watch up to the end - it is not possible to accidentally overwind the watch.

In 1961 the Tianjin Watch Factory in China had already become famous for the production of the first Chinese watch. Then the factory was commissioned to produce the first Chinese pilots chronograph for the Air Force of the People's Liberation Army. Until October 1962 the factory was producing three charges of the pilot's watch. In late 1962, then came together 38 experts from various fields (Chinese Minister of Industry, Flight Commander, Navy supervisor, etc.) to examine the watch. After the meeting, the Tianjin Watch Factory was officially charged with the production of the watch. In 1963 the factory then manufactured and supplied 1400 aviator watches to the Chinese Air Force.
