The Russian watch factory Vostok (Russian Восток "East", "Orient") was founded in 1942 by order of Josef Stalin and is located today in the city of Chistopol 800 km east of Moscow. It became necessary to relocate the Second Moscow Watch Factory in the course of the Second World War due to advancing Wehrmacht troops.

Since then, Vostok has been one of the official suppliers of the Russian and former Soviet Army. After the end of the Second World War wristwatches were manufactured in addition to clocks for aircraft, tanks and submarines. Until recently, however, these were only available in special stores exclusively for military personnel.

The best-known models are the Vostok Komandirskije (German: Commander), which has been produced since 1962

 

These new  Vostok -watches are powered by the robust WOSTOK Automatic Caliber 2416B with date indicator, 31 jewels, shock-protection ,two-side winding rotor, 19.800 halfrotations/hour and approx 31 hours power reserve.

The watchcase is now made of polished stainless steel with a movable lunette and hardened plexiglas. The decorated back is screwed and due to the also screwed crown this watch is 200 m waterproof. 18 mm bandwidth 
 

Included are also the Vostok watchbox and cyrillic Vostok certificate with productionnumber and date.
