This Seagull Sports Chronograph has a black dial with an outer white tachymeter scale.
Polished stainless steel case with 42 mm diameter, 13 mm height and 22 mm lug width. Due to the slightly curved lugs, this watch can be worn perfectly even on smaller wrists and fits comfortably on the wrist.
Mechanical column wheel chronograph caliber Seagull No. ST19 with hand-winding, approx. 45 hours power reserve, 21,600 vibrations per hour, shock protection and 21 jewels.
Seagull in Tianjin bought the production facilities of Venus from Switzerland in the 1960s and this special caliber is therefore identical or the successor to the legendary Venus 3017 column wheel caliber!
The black metal dial with Chinese characters has silver indices and silver luminous hands - as well as two white sub-dials. The “Red Star” at position “12” completes the classic design.
Diameter: 42 mm (with crown 46 mm) - Supplied with screwed crystal back.
The delivery includes a watch case, original leather strap with white stitches, textile strap, and an additional textile strap in black.

Background information on this: about 12 years ago a customer traveling from China visited me in my watch sales department in Munich and I happened to see this watch on his wrist (the 38mm version No. 7001) - because I was immediately impressed by this watch I now imported them directly from China, which is not easy due to various formalities and above all the rarity (no mass-produced goods!) of this model.
By 1961, the Tianjin Watch Factory was already known and famous in China for producing the first Chinese wristwatch. This watch manufacturer was then commissioned to produce the first Chinese aviator chronograph for the Air Force of the People's Liberation Army. By October 1962, the factory had produced three batches of this pilot's watch. At the end of 1962, 38 experts from various fields came together (Chinese industry minister, flight commanders, members of the military ...) to test the watch. After that, the Tianjin Watch Factory was officially commissioned to produce the watch. In 1963, this watch manufacturer was already producing and delivering 1,400 pilot's watches to the Chinese Air Force.
